Rose & Oud

Lush rose over deep, resinous oud.

What does Rose & Oud smell like?

Rose leads so it opens romantic and recognisable; oud and sandalwood sit underneath as a dark, creamy base. Bergamot lifts the first minute, vanilla keeps the dry-down warm rather than austere. Oil-based rather than alcohol, so it stays close to the skin and lasts.

What's in it

The fragrance blend, by percentage of the blend โ€” the same formula as Rose & Oud Perfume Recipe.

  • Rose fragrance oil 45%
    the romantic floral heart
  • Oud / agarwood fragrance oil 20%
    deep, woody, resinous base
  • Sandalwood fragrance oil 15%
creamy wood that bridges rose and oud
  • Bergamot fragrance oil 12%
a bright top so it doesn't open heavy
  • Vanilla fragrance oil 8%
    rounds and sweetens the base

Both numbers come straight out of our published usage-rate table โ€” the same table we tell everyone else to work from. The hard ceiling for any specific oil is that oil's own IFRA certificate, and where the certificate is lower, the certificate wins.

Same blend, different product. The recipe blends this as an alcohol-based eau de parfum. As a roll-on the same blend goes into a carrier oil instead, which is a different IFRA basis and a different load โ€” both shown below.

Safety โ€” Leave-on skin product

  • ยทLeave-on use on pulse points โ€” wrists, throat, behind the ears. Not for the face, not on broken skin.
  • ยทPatch test on your inner forearm and wait 24 hours before wearing it. Fine fragrance runs at a high load precisely because it goes on small areas โ€” do not treat it as a body oil.
  • ยทDo not use it if you have a known fragrance allergy, and stop if you get any redness or itching.
  • ยทKeep it out of sun and heat. Citrus and rose both fade in light, which is why the bottle is dark.

What has to be done before this can legally be sold

A perfume oil is a cosmetic in the UK and EU. Before it can be sold it needs a Cosmetic Product Safety Report from a qualified assessor and notification by a Responsible Person (UK SCPN or EU CPNP). In the US, MoCRA requires facility registration and product listing.

The full Annex III allergen declaration is set by the specific oils used and comes off their supplier certificates. Those oils have not been sourced, so there is no allergen list to publish yet โ€” and we would rather print that than a guess.

This is on the page rather than in a drawer because it is the honest reason there is a waitlist instead of a buy button.

Or make it yourself

The full method is published free โ€” oils, ratios, temperatures, cure times, and where to buy each oil from a verified supplier. Nothing is held back.
